The site forms an area of land with access via a track from Chemical Lane and runs north with the track going under the Reginald Mitchell Way and opening up into a larger area. There are two ponds on the site as well as grass land with trees and shrubs.

The eastern boundary is the Trent and Mersey Canal which runs into the Harecastle Tunnel at the northern end of the site. The western boundary we believe was a former railway track in private ownership.

Location:

The site is situated to the south of Lowlands Road and close to the boundary of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Reginald Mitchell Way is to the east of the site. There is no access on to Reginald Mitchell Way and the land also does not have a direct access onto Lowlands Road. The only access to the site is via a track off Chemical Lane.

Chemical Lane has a link to Reginald Mitchell Way which is the A527 and has a direct link onto the A500 which is an urban expressway through the heart of the North Staffordshire conurbation linking junctions 15 and 16 of the M6 Motorway. Via the A500 there is good access to Stoke-on-Trent City Centre and the Festival Park to the south of the site with the City Centre a regional shopping centre and the Festival Park an out of town shopping area providing major retail and leisure facilities

The A527 also provides access to Tunstall approximately one and a half miles east of the site which has a number of major shops including a large Asda super store, Argos, Matalan etc. There is also local schools and shopping close by.
